줄거리: 바람이 분다. 태풍이 올 때 바다로 나가는 어부들이 있다고 한다. 바람을 피해서, 뭍으로 올라오는 물고기를 잡으려는 어부는 마지막 만선의 꿈을 가지고 바다로 향한다. 미친 듯이 몰아치는 거대한 파도와 바람의 고통 속에서 어부는 자신의 존재조차 부정하고 싶지 않을까. 폭풍이라는 거대한 절대적 죽음과 그 앞에 나타난 물고기들을 보면서 바다는 노인에게 거부할 수 없는 선택과 함께, 고단한 삶을 준다. (The wind is blowing. some fishermen say to go fishing when the typhoon comes in. A fishermans trying to catch fishes, which come up to avoid the wind, heads for the sea with aspiration of filling his ship with fishes. A fisherman might deny himself by the agony of the wind and roaring big waves. The sea gives the undeniable selection as well as an exhausting life when the old man stares at the windstorm - the absolute death and fishes in front of the windstorm.) 연출의도. 가난하고 쓸쓸한 어촌의 밤. 그 어둠 속에서 한 노인이 담배에 불을 붙인다. 손에 켜든 성냥불빛만큼의 작은 존재인 듯. 늙고 초라한 모습으로 집을 나서는 노인은 가난한 어촌의 언덕에 올라 말없이 멀리서 다가오는 폭풍을 본다. 바다로 나간 노인은 힘차게 그물을 끌어올리지만, 폭풍을 만나고 거대한 파도가 노인을 덮친다 그때 그가 본 고래는 그를 유년시절의 추억으로 데려다주고 노인은 그곳에서 어머니를 만난다. (Poor and desolate night at the fishing village An old man lights a cigarette in darkness. The old man, as small being as the light of a match in his hands, comes out of his house ina shabby and old figure and goes up the hill of the poor fishing village. Then, he stares at the windstorm silently that comes closer. The old man goes fishing and hauls in a net but is caught by the windstorm and overwhelmed by the huge wave.
